La Commission Internationale des Irrigations et du Drainage (CIID) a été établie le 24 juin 1950 en tant qu'organisation internationale non gouvernementale (ONG) scientifique, technique et bénévole et non lucrative, ayant son siège social à New Delhi, en Inde. La Commission se consacre à la tâche d'accroître la production alimentaire et des fibres textiles pour tout le peuple grâce à l'amélioration de la gestion d'eau et de la terre et de la productivité des terres irriguées et drainées, par une gestion appropriée de l'eau, de l'environnement, et l'application des techniques d'irrigation, de drainage et de maîtrise des crues. Les activités de la Commission sont exécutées dans le cadre des statuts et des règlements intérieurs de la CIID. La dernière version des statuts et des règlements intérieurs fut adoptée en 1996. ICID at Stockholm World Water Week
ICID, together with SIWI, FAO and IWMI co-convened a workshop on “Best Use of Blue water Resources for Food Security” on 28th August. President Honoraire Prof. Chandra Madaramootoo delivered a keynote address on “Renewed Emphasis on Water Storage for Food Production” while Dr. Toru Watanabe participated in the Panel discussions. SG Er. Avinash C. Tyagi chaired the session with Dr. Peter McCornick, Dy. Director General, IWMI. President Dr. Gao Zhanyi participated in a number of panel discussions: “Governance for Water and Food Security” and Seminar on “Eye on Asia- Food and Water Security”, to name a few. Direct ICID Membership Recognizing that the benefit of science and technology can only be realized through innovation and moving with the changing technologies, ICID brings all stakeholders in its core activities under one umbrella. This . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 63rd IEC Meeting & 7th Asian Regional Conference, 24-30 June, Adelaide ICID’s 7th Asian Regional/ Irrigation Australia Conference and Trade Show were opened today at the grand ceremony held at the Adelaide Convention Centre. More than 500 delegates from 56 countries have gathered in Adelaide- the wine capital of Southern Australia. At the outset, Mr. Ian Atkinson, CEO of IAL welcomed the delegates. Mr. Tony Burke, Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities addressed the gathering through pre-recorded video. President Dr. Gao Zhanyi delivered the keynote speech on ‘Water and Irrigation for Food Security’. Mr. Hon Jay Weatherill, Premier of South Australia, Mr. Peter Toome, Chair IAL and Mr. Thierry Facon of FAO also gave speeches on the occasion.
