1548. Gabion : A crate or box made of wire mesh, filled with stone. Gabions may be laid in courses like large bricks to form bank revetment, groynes, aprons or protective pavements, and so forth. In some form, similar to `tarungars` (See 1554).

1548. Gabion : Caisse à claire-voie en grillage remplie de pierres. Les gabions peuvent être employés en assises, comme de grandes briques, pour former un revêtement de berge, pour former des épis, comme un radier ou un pavage protecteur et ainsi de suite. Certaines variantes de gabions rappellent les tarungars. Voir 1554.
