3958. Venturi flume : A type of open flume, used for measuring flow, with a contracted throat that causes a drop in the hydraulic grade line. Note - The essential difference between Venturi flume and standing wave flume (See 3433) is that observation of both upstream and downstream water levels are necessary with the former, whereas with the latter, the upstream water level observation is by itself enough to determine the discharge. | ||
